Hello Dania Beach Friends and Neighbors,

I'm Joyce L. Davis, and for the past 18 years, I've proudly called the City of Dania Beach my home. Originating from a small town in Indiana, I grew up as the daughter of a preacher and teacher, instilling in me a deep passion for public service, community leadership, and the principle of loving your neighbor as yourself. My journey includes graduating from the University of Maryland at College Park and serving as an English Language Arts teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools prior to moving to Dania Beach to teach for Broward County Public Schools.

Driven by my commitment to positively impacting the lives of youth, I went to graduate school at Notre Dame of Maryland University. I founded the Pearl Girlz Education & Empowerment Program, a girl bullying prevention and mentoring program for adolescent girls. Additionally, I contributed to social change in various schools and cities in Miami-Dade County by implementing my prevention program as an instructor for Miami-Dade College's Continuing Education Department.

In collaboration with the Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce and the community's support, I successfully launched the city's first girl bullying intervention program in Dania Beach. Building on my diverse experiences, I gained valuable business insights while working for Taylor Woodrow, the developer behind The Diplomat Oceanfront Residences. I also served as the Vice President of the Ancient Spanish Monastery Foundation, leading major fundraising events to preserve the "oldest building in the Western Hemisphere."

Continuing my pursuit of being a lifelong learner, I am currently working on my dissertation as a candidate for a Ph.D. in Human Services with a concentration in community leadership and intervention. My dissertation is focused on youth violence prevention to ensure a brighter future for the next generation. With my extensive background, I am dedicated to prioritizing the well-being of Dania Beach residents by implementing the best practices and policies, placing our community at the forefront of my efforts.

I am running for re-election to the Dania Beach City Commission with the aim of continuing to foster unity and social change in our community, invest in infrastructure and drainage improvement projects, enhance public safety through youth violence prevention, support for community & local businesses, expand cultural enrichment, and promote health & wellness. Regardless of political affiliation, race, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status, we constitute ONE community - ONE Dania Beach! It is imperative that we stand united to propel OUR City forward collectively.

 

Leading with fresh eyes and a new perspective have resulted in a multitude of new city initiatives, community, and business partnerships (See Achievements). My purpose is to serve as a trusted advocate for the people. I am committed to listening to and respecting the opinions of all residents, fostering collaboration with our city administration and commission through civility and compromise. Together, we will consistently strive to implement positive solutions that elevate the quality of life for every Dania Beach resident.

I am motivated by the belief that, as a community, we can transcend differences and work collaboratively towards a common goal. My candidacy represents a commitment to inclusivity and open-mindedness, where every resident's voice is valued and heard.

In this pursuit, I aim to continue to bring a fresh and forward-looking perspective to the Dania Beach City Commission. By actively engaging with the diverse opinions of our community members and fostering a spirit of collaboration with the city administration and commission, we can ensure that decisions are made with the collective well-being of all Dania Beach residents in mind.

Throughout this journey, I aspire to uphold the values of honesty, integrity, and transparency, recognizing that constructive dialogue and collaboration are essential for effective governance. Together, let's build a stronger, more vibrant Dania Beach that truly reflects the unity and diversity within our community. I am dedicated to being a strong voice for every resident and working tirelessly to enhance the quality of life for all. Join me in shaping a brighter future for our beloved Dania Beach!
